When you visit California Wine Country, don’t get so carried away with the wine and foodie scene that you pass over the extraordinary art in wine country.
Every year, Sonoma County offers ArtTrails. Hundreds of artists open their home studios. It’s become so popular that it has spread to several weekends, and is divided into the south and north counties. If you can’t make it to one of the many year-round art festivals, then just open your eyes as you stroll through the plazas of Sonoma County and drive her back roads. Art is everywhere.
For example, Bacchus Glass is in the heart of the town of Sonoma. This world-renowned glass blowing company welcomes Wine Country visitors Monday through Friday to watch them spin their magic. If you stop by Meritage Restaurant in Sonoma, one of our favorite places to indulge and get food happy, look above you. The lighting is other-worldly and created by Bacchus. As a matter of fact, we’d say that much of Bacchus glass, with showrooms across the country, feels like organic creatures that bubbled from the earth or sea.
So, if you’re in the heart of the Carneros wine growing region of California Wine Country, stop by Bacchus. Under the direction of Frank Cavaz, master glass blower, Bacchus whirls out gifts, table and barware, lighting, and extraordinary works of unique art. As a wine country visitor, you’re welcome to visit their studios and watch glass blowing demonstrations.
After you recover from being completely blown away by watching these alchemical transformations, stop at a wine bar and enjoy.
In California wine country, life is a thing of beauty!
